Which forum do I post a photo convert ? using XP home with all updates?
Which forum ?

I am saving Census records and they default in JPG. I need them in TEXT.
Convert to TEXT for to PDF 1st then from PDF to TEXT ?

Or from JPG to TIF then from TIF to TEXT ?

Thank you from New Orleans

You need to post in a forum that supports the program you are using that you
are saving them in when they convert. It's not a Windows issue.

I tried to set the application's options or preferences but it is
Ancestry.com and it only has the 1 choice when saving the Census records.

Thanks for the quick response.

That is what I am doing, I am looking for a program to use that works in
Windows that will convert
this stuff. I am asking the folks who know what program to use.

Thanks for the quick response.

To convert a picture of text to editable text you
need an OCR (optical character recognition)
program and a scanner.

If you have Microsoft Office...you may already
have a program you can use.

Microsoft Office Document Scanning

Or...do a Google search for OCR software...you'll
find many choices.

Downloading?? Do you mean you are uploading your file for them to scan?

Be sure to read their FAQ. It has some info about PDF files and
others. This is a free service so don't expect perfection.

Only if you want to. That's why they call it donate ;-)
