Formatting Loss of Signature in Replies & Forwards

I have an email signature and I also have a stationary with my name, title,
co name, etc on it in (HTML) which looks nice when I send a new email.
However when I reply to or forward an email the formattting changes itself
from single spaced to double spaced and I can't figure out whey and how to
prevent this from happening? Anyone know how to fix this?

in html, <enter> means new paragraph, hence the spacing.
edit the signature, change <enter> to <shift><enter>
