form/extensions problem and question

I have a simple contact from on my site that's been working for over 2 years
without any problems. All of a sudden I get the following error message when
I hit submit:
FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.


Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the extensions and then republished my site
and I've tried recalculating the site both through FrontPage and through a
tool on my hosts control panel and nothing has helped. They tell me that my
site is missing _vti_bin and that in addition to reinstalling the extensions
I will need to delete all content from my site and install everything from
scratch.

I have never had to do anything like this before... does this sound normal?

No it doesn't sound normal.

Reinstall the extensions, and then re-publish your web to it's http:// address.
If it won't publish, your host has a server issue.

It will publish just fine, but the form will not work. I've
uninstalled/reinstalled the extensions 3 times now an republished... the
form continues not to work.

Can you post a link to the page with the form??

Also, if your form saves results to the _private folder, make sure the _private folder has "server write" permissions
set.

Try creating a new 'test' form... nothing fancy, just one or two fields.
Publish it and see if it works.

Well the thing is that this form has worked for quite a while without any
problems at all.. but I'll check with the host on that.

Well I guess the problem is somehow on my end because the quick and easy
form I just created seems to have worked just fine. I haven't made any
changes to that page so I never looked at it.. guess I need to go over
everything again... sorry to bother you all.
