If you really mean the built-in Administrator password, use NTpasswd and
change the Administrator password to a blank. Then log in and go to the
User Accounts applet in Control Panel and assign a password you'll
remember.

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

You should never have only one account on the system. If you have been
using the built-in Administrator account and did not create a second
account, it would be very wise to make one. You can copy your stuff
from the Administrator account to your new user account, although
you'll need to make a third temporary account to work from. You must
log into any new accounts once before you can copy to them.

Read this article:
http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

There is a tool called Austrumi that will allow you to reset the local
administrator password as well as some other utilities. You will need
to burn the image to a CD and boot from it. Follow the instructions and

you shouldnt have any problems. You can download it from the link above

Exactly the way I told you. I see you've also posted this in the
windowsxp.general group too. Please don't multipost as it is extremely
annoying.

Boot with NTpasswd, change the Administrator password to a blank, etc.
etc. If this is technically not your cup of tea - and there is no shame
in admitting this - take the machine to a local professional (not
BigStoreUSA type of place) and have them do it for you. The process
will only take a few minutes.

Try this - it creates a bootdisk for your computer and then walks yo
through resetting the administrator password...

http://tinyurl.com/mp5m

Run it to create a boot floppy then follow the instructions. If yo
choose to do this then you are doing this at your own risk. Just chang
the admin pw and login then change the account pw's that you desire.

Make sure you have a floppy disk in the floppy drive and let th
program create the boot floppy. Now restart the machine a let it boo
from the floppy. Now follow what it instructs you to do

Either Dayzt's boot floppy or NTpasswd are simple processes for people
accustomed to working with computers. I can't say whether this would be
simple for you. It can't hurt anything for you to try. If you decide
not to bother, then as I've said have your brother take the machine to
a professional shop and have them do it. It really is a very quick and
easy process.

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account(s). By design, the
only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to
reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at
the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

Thanks Malke for taking the time to help and again I apologize for the
multiposting which I did not know and would not do again

It's not a "big" problem but it can be a real annoyance to many
people.
The way to post to more than one group is to "crosspost"
instead of multi-posting. In this case you'd have put both the
groups you posted to in ONE address window, separated by commas
(for OE & most look alikes), just like you do with multiple email
addresses
.. That way if someone reads your posts in one group, it also
gets marked as read for them in the other group at the same time.
Also, one can "set followups" to that all responses will go to
only one group, leaving only one group to have to check for
responses, but the responses sow up in both groups. And blah,
blah, blah, blah. In a nutshell, anyway <g>

Have you tried this?]

Windows XP Pro:
At the log-in screen, press Ctrl/Alt/Del twice quickly

Type "Administrator" and leave password blank.
I've seen references to it, but no one's been specific.

Certainly that's something that might work if the OS was pre-installed - the
default for pre-installed XP usually seems to be no password on the
Administrator account! security? What security?

Thanks to all for taking the time to assist someone in need. You are all the
greatest. The profiles were corrupted and the hard drive had to be
reformatted and the os reinstall but again thanks and I will continue to ask
for help when in need and I trully apologize for the multi-posting which
would not happen again
