Forgot login name

I have a friend were she forgot the login name. Is there away around this. I
can not go in by the administer account, because all I get is a black desktop
with safe mode plastered on screen with no menu, specified at start up.

Does not the XP start up into her account automatically?

If the "administrator" account is "damaged" then you need to locate
tool to locate the accounts and reset passwords. Also, you "may" have
to re-install Xp on top of the installed version (usually known as a
repair install.)

I have not tried it but you should be able to use this tool to find her
