Footers

Sketch

When inserting footers on a slide i find it impossible to insert a symbol
over a letter.
Any suggestions on how to apply symbols or even use the degree symbol if i
required it in the footer.

Have you tried Insert > Symbol? By footer I assume you mean the footer in the
Slide Master, accessed by going to View > Master > Slide Master.
