Footer - used as editable placeholder

Attempting a work-around to enable me to have more than two (2) placeholders
on a Master Slide that can then be editable in normal view.

It works.

Unfortunately the placeholder itself does not expand around the footer.

Essentially, what I am looking for is to utilize the footer as a auto-fit
placeholder with a colored background.

Is this possible?

Pretty sure that footers are not going to be editable (except on the master)!
