Folder View

Here's a challenge that everyone has failed. In Win 2000,
when I open a drive or folder, such as opening My
Computer, or any folder, I have set the Folder View to
Large Icons. It keeps changing itself back to List. I
change it back to Large Icons, next day it's back to List.
No idea why. The pc has been rid of spyware etc. The
option for "remember each folder's view settings" is
enabled. If anyone knows how to fix this please e mail
since it's too hard to find this posting later.

Thanks.

Ok, I finally found those tips on the site but I still
dont know how to make the registry edit to keep the folder
in Large Icons view. The tips talk about making the folder
Details or List view.

Actually this issue can occur for a number of reasons. Not all having to do with any errors in the registry or elsewhere. Often it is just a result of installing an update patch or running low on resources. Now if this happens EVERY time the next day say after a reboot then yes you may have an issue. If it happened periodically I'd say. "that's Windows." But as it seems to be happening with regularity I'd say you have a System File Protection issue going on. Or maybe some 16-bit apps firing. The point here is when you have a misbevaing application this issue can result.

As a test boot and immediately make your change. Then immediately reboot. Look see if the view has reverted back to list view. If not then we know it is not in the boot up. Maybe in the shutdown. Try the test and tell me the result.
