folder view

If I could count the number of times I have told Windows Explorer that I
prefer the Details view when I look at a file list, I'm sure it would
somewhere in the millions. No matter how many times I go to folder options
and tell it, like Current, or Reset all, or don't remember folder views,
eventually it reverts to large icons. It's not consistent. At some point (or
event) though, it seems to forget. Is large icaons the default, or
something?
