Folder & File View Format

I would like all Folders and files always to appear as they do when
VIEW>DETAILS are clicked in Windows Explorer , i.e the Folder icons
as small icons and the files showing their extensions.

Each time I arrange them this way , the next time they are opened they
have reverted back to large icons with no file extensions showing .

How can I make such a choice apply to all Folders and file icons and
have them remain that way ?

Select your favorite way then click at following menu:
Tools>Folder Options
Select View and then click on "Like Current Folder" button.
