Folder View (Thumbnails, Tiles, etc)

Hello.

I have one folder that has 1526 files and 166 subfolders,
and sometimes XP changes the view from Details to Tiles
in random subfolders.

Is there a way I can set all of these folders to Details
and not have to change their view again?

Thanks!

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Windows Explorer/View/[Select Accordingly]. Then Tools/Folder
Options/View/Apply to All Folders.

If this is not what you are looking for: Go to Windows
Explorer/Tools/Folder Options. From there you can change the settings as to
whether or not a separate window is displayed for each folder and then if
separate windows are used individual view settings should be remembered.

It's kind of funny... I posted my message, and I noticed
you were helping a few of us out (mssgs that had just
been posted). I figured I'd look at your site (your BG
is a picture I loved long ago!), and I found the reg
download.

Thanks for the help!

hi kelly,

i installed the 8000 edit, but was wondering if the same thing will happen
to folders if/when 8000 settings has been reached?
i guess i'm a little confused. i know i have over 400 folders, but i didn't
change the settings on all of them.
what constitutes a "setting"?

thank you.

Hi,

1. Yes.
2. This text borrowed from: MVP Mike Burgess:

By default, Windows is designed to remember 400 different folder settings
(200 local folders and 200 network folders, for a total of 400 folders).
Windows will start to re-use these stored settings on a 'Most Recently Used'
basis, once the folder limit has been exceeded.
