Folder view not refreshed

Hello to all. My PC lately has been experiencing a problem with folder
contents view. When I delete a file, the folder has to be manually
refreshed before the new view takes effect. I'm running XP Home SP1 and I
can't recall when it started. The problem appears to be somewhat
intermittent, but lately it's been more rather than less.
Any help will be appreciated.
