Folder Pane Changes Do Not Stick

R

Rich

Greetings,
I recently installed Windows Live Mail & am trying to it in transition from
OE. I use filters in OE & Windows Live Mail transferred them to "Storage
Folder" which appear at the end of folders visible in the folder pane on the
left. Quick view & the four separate e-mail accounts appear first & are
meaningless to me as 90% of my e-mail is filtered to these folders. When I
discovered I could move "Storage Folders" up until they appear first this
solved my problem....until I opened Live Mail the next time or switched back
from Newsgroups to find "Storage Folders" back at the bottom of the
hierarchy. Am I missing something? What is the point of rearranging the
folders in the viewing pane for each new session of e-mail viewing?
My related question regards Quick view. Why is the ability to uncheck the
option to view all unread mail grayed out? Quick view would be the only way
I can view any mail that is not handled by my message filters through the
option to view all inboxes. I would like to transition away from OE because
it is no longer being updated & I like the fact that Live Mail stores
messages as separate *.eml files & not one large unreadable *.dbx file.
Ideally I would like the view pane on the left to display one global inbox
for my four different e-mail accounts & then my user-created filter folders
regardless of the source e-mail server (like OE). I really don't care which
mail server/account the e-mail came in through, although I would not mind
having them listed at the very bottom of the folders listed in the view
pane.
I searched the internet for a Live Mail site that dealt with tips & tweaks
that address my issues but could not find one. So if my issues are too
specific to be addressed in this forum, a direction to a link on the
internet on customizing Live Mail would be appreciated.
I am really trying to fight through my initial knee-jerk reaction to Live
Mail: a bit kludgey & not easily customizable interface with possible
program glitches (grayed out customizing option? Why?). I truly want to
adjust & make it work.
Sorry for my life story.
Thanks,
Rich

I am cross-posting to the WLM newsgroup where someone
will respond:

Oops, sorry! I didn't realize I had the wrong group. I didn't realize that
Windows Vista Mail was the wrong newsgroup. I assumed Vista used Live mail.
I saw the Live Mail Desktop group but did not understand what the "desktop"
in the title of the newsgroup had to do with an e-mail program & thought it
was specific somehow to the desktop(?). I do not use live feeds or anything
like that in my e-mail. Is there a plain Windows Mail program I should be
installing instead for my XP system to replace OE or does Windows Mail (not
live) only come with Vista?
Anyway, thanks for redirecting my question & my apologies for off-topic
posting.
Regards,
Rich

Windows Mail only comes with Vista.

There is a response to your post in the WLM newsgroup.
The WLM program was initially named Windows Live Mail Desktop,
but the 'desktop' part of the name was dropped later on.
