Folder Options - Tasks - Slow Response

Show Common tasks (SCT) vs. Use Windows Classic (UWC) folders. WinXP - SP2 -
all updates.
When I map a drive using SCT to a server share and select a folder there is
a delay before the folder highlites. The delay was caused by SCT searching
the folder and was mapping the shortcuts to drive letters it found in the
folder. Folders without shortcuts had a normal response and highlited
quickly.
When UWC was selected the delay and mapping of the drives did not occur.
My question is using SCT. Is there a setting(s) that prevents SCT from
scanning folders and subfolders?

Ok, I think I found the issue. Playing with Tools - Folder Options - View
Tab. Depending on where (My Computer or inside another folder explorer view)
I reset my folders using either Apply to All Folders or Reset All Folders
makes a difference in viewing files and folders on a network share (slow
response opening folders) and Not making any changes to my advanced settings.
This behavior is by design?

ok I keep answering myself. But I was wrong. Reseting doesn't seem to work.
Only going to UWC is the quickest way to navigate shared network folders.
But I am still looking for an Answer. Anyone?
