Slow Reponse Folder

I have a folder in My documents, It's a folder within a folder that has a
slow response. the lag time between the click of a mouse to response is
about 15 seconds, that includes clicking the menus,File,Edit,view, etc.
After the initial response other folders respond quickly.
How can I speed it up.

How long is the folder name? How long is the file path? how many files
in the folder?

Thanks for your reply.
It's a sub folder in a pictures folder and a sub folder in that folder. Had
no problems with it before yesterday. It seems to have corrected it's self
today with no input from me. Weird situation. Thanks again.
