folder loading on startup

I installed Catalyst Media Control Center on my laptop. Now I have the folder
starting on boot up. The only thing in the folder is the folder for ATI. How
do I get it to stop loading. This is not the program loading, just the folder
for the program.

The folder might not be empty. Open Windows Explorer. Under Tools, in
Folder Options, in Advanced Settings under the View tab, click on the
setting to show hidden files and folders. The default configuration
designed by Microsoft is not to allow the showing of hidden files and
folders; system files and some driver files fall into this category.

The first thing that comes to mind is that when you installed the software for
your video adapter, it created an entry in the registry to load the program at
startup but it neglected to enclose the path to the program in quotation marks.

See if the following helps.

Download this free program from Microsoft.

AutoRuns for Windows v9.02
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Once you unzip the contents of the downloaded folder, run autoruns.exe.
In Autoruns, click on the Logon page.

Look for an entry that includes the folder that's opening at startup in the
Image Path column.
Right click on this entry and select "Jump to" from the menu.
This should open the Registry Editor to the appropriate key.
Look in the right hand pane for an entry that lists that folder in the Data
column.
Right click on this entry and select Modify from the menu.
Enclose the entire contents of the Value data box in quotation marks.
Click OK and close the Registry Editor.
Restart your system and see if the folder still opens at startup.

Good luck

I have that setting changed already, but that is not the problem, when the
computer starts up this folder pops up on start up. How do I get it to stop?
