I cannot download Adobe Flash Player to my Vista. There are a few of my
friends that have the same problem and we can't figure why not.
I do all the things it says to do, install, accept the active x, etc. It
seems to finish but in the end there is nothing. There are many sites now
that require the Flash Player and I have tried downloading from those sites.
Nothing. I was able to install the Flash Player uninstall and I run that
before I try to reinstall something I didn't have in the first place.
A bit of help appreciated.

See if this helps.

To Get Flash Player Working:

Install Flash Player (or so you think!)

Vista (32bit) go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed folder

Vista(64bit) go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed folder

Open the folder and right click on 'FlashUtil9b.exe', then left click 'Run
as Administrator.' The Flash Player installer should now start and once it
completes, Flash Player should work and appear on the uninstall or change
program list.

This issue is related to how Windows Vista's security features prevent
applications from changing registry settings (even if you are logged in as
an
administrator) you must explicitly allow programs to make certain changes.

thanks, Alan. Did it exactly as you said. Found it in Sys32, clicked on
FlashUtil9b.exe, ran as administrator. Everything seemed perfect.
Restarted, but, I still could not bring up two sites that require the flash
player. If you have any more ideas, please send. Thanks

The problem isn't due to applications not being able to change registry
settings.

Flash seems to be easily broken in Vista, but using the installer again
should have fixed it.

Try using the Flash remover tool, and then try reinstalling on the Adobe
webpage.

Yeah, dump Vista and either go back to XP or upgrade to Ubuntu. Neither
have these types of problems. Check it out at www.ubuntu.com/
