Flash card not working

ms

I plugged in a new Sony flash card to one of my USB ports, nothing.

According to the instructions, a icon should appear, if I'm lucky, "found
new hardware" screen would appear.

Nothing appeared, in Device Manager, nothing new, in Add New Hardware, it
searched, found nothing. It did say my USB hub is working.

My W2K has SP4, surely the basic OS has USB 2 drivers as default?

Maybe my usb jacks are defective?

Advice?

There are usually some connections (I have 6 on my computer) on the back of the
computer. Whosoever built your machine might have been too idle to connect up
the front USB ports.

Thanks, I tried one of them on the back, after I rebooted, it worked
fine. BTW, until I rebooted, the icon gave as an only option "eject", so
it is necessary to reboot, I guess.

It seems to show the front (handy) jacks are not working.

Not too difficult to put right but then I have the advantage of being an ex TV
tech. You will certainly need a diagram of the motherboard to make the right
connections.
Thanks for letting me know - nice to be right now and again
