Flagged cd drivers

D

Dan Cordell

Had an issue with Roxio application tried to uninstall and then reinstall,
used the control panel Add/Remove Programs. After Roxio was uninstalled the
neither of 2 CD drives were recognized. Device manager has them yellow
flagged as not working. Uninstalled the devices and Windows XP found them
and reinstalled but gave message that they were "not working could be
missing or corrupt drivers." Tried to down load new drivers from HP but
install failed. Tried the System Restore feature of XP. Restore runs and
shows the restore points and even shows the date and a note that Roxio was
uninstalled on July 14 and new point was created afterwards on the same day.
When I try to restore it goes through the restore process and then ends with
a message that there were no changes. The CDs seem to work, they will
accept a disk and the lights flash and the disk spins up but nothing appears
anywhere on the system about the drive or the contents. Any ideas?
