Fixing a Maxtor HD?

V

V

Here's a Maxtor 200GB SATA/150 HD that should have been RMA'ed.
Maxtor wouldn't RMA it because it was supplied as a Sony Desktop PC
component (OEM HD).
But doing a low-level format gives the illusion that the drive is now
OK.

Sony should replace it under warranty.

Looks like more reallocated sectors since the LLF.

People (not just you) need to move away from the idea of "fixing" or
"salvaging" drives. Instead, the focus should be on failure tolerance
(e.g. RAID and backups). Data is worth much more than drives.

Don't they all. Isn't that what we all expect from them that they do that?
That they do what they are advertised to do? Work?

No, its not.

Nope.

Looks like more reallocated sectors since the LLF.

Nope, even a simpleton -like yourself- should be able to notice that the
"Value" value has returned to 253, where before it was the same as "Worst".
The 3 reallocated sectors is all what remained of the previous 351, who
apparently were not all bad.
PowerMax is notorious for getting it wrong at times.

And as always you have little clue.

Some ****wit rabid pseudokraut thats so stupid that it cant even
manage to work out the significance of 351 reallocated sectors,
shit that only a complete ****ing loony could ever manage.
