Fix For SP2 Problem with 16 bit Programs

S

Sam

If anyone can't install their 16 bit programs After Service pack 2
....the fix is to download XP_FIX From following site.

http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/default.asp

SP2 Deletes crucial files needed for 16 programs for some strange
reason.

Just download the XP_FIX File and run it. Worked for me and now I
can install F-22 LIGHTNING 3 Game once more!

It took me literaly hours to sort this problem out,
and was cured in seconds after I had found out what to
do!!!

Some believe it is an SP2 upgrade problem:
Rock believes otherwise and has provided this info and
link:

"This has nothing to do with SP2, This problem occurs in
SP1 and earlier as well. There are a variety of
things that cause damage to or can delete the autoexec.nt
file. One of these is a trojan. See this link for
info. Scan your system for malware otherwise the problem
could come back."selm=5f6f139.0409140618.749324fe%40posting.google.com

Thanks for the good info Rock.
Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for amending your post. The important point is for the OP to get
