Fix For SP2 Problem with 16 bit Programs

Hi,
I have tried reloading autoexec.nt as per the various
documents as well as run the XP_FIX program. I can only
get this to work for the active session. if I reboot my
machine I get the 16 bit program error again.

How can I fix this permanently?

Could be caused a trojan or something similar, e.g.
TrojanDownloader.Win32.Dia.a, more about this here:

Also, AVAST (antivirus software) can be the cause if you
have WinXP SP2 installed:
