This installaton program will reinstall the missing or corrupt Windows XP
system files command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt. The absence or
corruption of one or more of these files causes a "16 Bit Subsystem" error.

Hi,

#1

When trying to print word document using Word2002 on WinXP, there are times
the printer (hp DeskJet 920c) acts up when it runs out of paper mid-job.
When I replace the paper tray, the printer resumes and only prints random
characters at the top - going page after page after page until I remove the
paper stack and turn it off. If anyone has every heard of this, I would
appreciate any help.

but this led to a 2nd problem.

#2

I decided to download the last most recent drivers - went to hp - chose the
one for WinXP & 920c series. It failed to install twice - once using their
auto install process and then lastly when I downloaded the file and ran it
myself.

In both cases, the following error message popped up - which confuses me -
it is the 2nd time I have encounter this issue when trying to load
upgrades/updates – any help is appreciated … here is the message entitles
"16 bit Windows Subsystem":

===========================

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application.

===========================

It would seem the file would be suitable based upon HP's web site where the
file was located.
