firewire card not recognised

My on board firewire did not get recognised by XP so i purchased a PCI card.
This is not auto-detected by XP either, when i try to force by New hardware
install wizard it does not see it and cannot find drivers. When i point it to
1394.inf in /system32 i get a blank box!!! No vendors at all in it!! So
cannot install. It is OHCI compliant card by Texas Instruments, and works in
a spare computer from work, so not card. I have many work utils and work in
progress on HDD so do not want to fresh install. Help!

Perhaps the firewire card is in a PCI slot that is sharing and IRQ with a
conflicting device, try moving the card to a different PCI slot (I had a
similar problem with an IDE controller card in which the slot I originally
put it in was sharing an IRQ with my onboard IDE controller). Also,
concerning your onboard firewire, did you check to see if the controller was
enabled in your BIOS?
