Firewall error message

I cannot access Firewall settings, in any way whatsoever. I get this error
message: "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows
Firewall settings". I have trawled the net and seemingly others have had same
problem, but none of the suggestions to fix it have worked. I did not try a
large registry fix suggested by (anonymous) - it was rather comprehensive and
I did not think it worth the risk. Has anyone any helpful suggestions? 7 Feb

Further to my previous posting: I am running XP Sp2. I need to access the
Firewall settings to amend the Exceptions list. Help appreciated. Psyjak 7
