Firewall disabled

Running Win XP/SPII. Loaded MS antispyware and scanned.
Now the Security center says my Firewall is not
enabled.When I follow the recommendations,the system says
that windows can't start the Firewall. Ref.
SRX050207602232. Would appreciate any suggestions.
