Win Firewall disable after antispyware install.

I downloaded AntiSpyware today.

Interestingly enough, after reboot, The firewall is
displayed as running,
also when you have a look into the "security center".
After
half a minute I
get the message that there is a security issue and then
the
firewall is
indicated as "not running"

No chance to start it
- from the security center as well as from
- the system administration nor as a
- service under Administration/services
When I try to start is as a service, I get Error# 10047.
What is next ???? Thks

At the command prompt type:

NETSH WINSOCK RESET

That has worked for several.

As long as you are on SP2, that should work, otherwise there's a different
fix, in this KB article:

(winsock reset for 2k, xp pre sp2, and 2003 pre sp1)

start--> run--> netsh winsock reset
you shoul be able to start the firewall service now
