Hi,

I need some help with icons. The icon for .mp3 files displays as if they
are an unknown type. I have tried re-installing WinAmp & selecting 'Open
With' & 'Always use this application' but to no avail. Can anyone offer a
suggestion?

Thanks,

neil.

Check this registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Mp3file\DefaultIcon

and see what the value/data is.

Mine is:

C:\PROGRA~1\WINDOW~3\wmplayer.exe,-120
or
C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINDOW MEDIA PLAYER\wmplayer.exe,-120

Thanks Larry,

Mine says the same too. I have tried looking at the registry of another PC
which is ok. I'm trying to delete the original keys & importing those from
the good PC. I have backed up the original ones if there is a problem. I
will post the results later.

Right click a .mp3 file, choose "open with...", choose "Select the
program from a list". After clicking the OK button, make sure the
checkbox "Always use the selected program..." is checked, and scroll the
list to find the application that you want to use. If it is not there,
click the Browse button and navigate to the application.
