Files using my CPU resources

Hi. I have issues with some processes named LEXBCES.EXE and LEXPPS.EXE
left over from a Lexmark Z22-32 uninstall.........Lexmark gave me
instruction for removing the lexbces using the Command Prompt which
worked, but on reboot and opening any app that has a print option, the
Printer Spool stops and the starts repeatedly.
The same thing happens if I try to stop and disable it in Services.
The lexpps.exe is a hidden file in Window/Syst32 that I can't even find
and don't know what would happen if I deleted it..........
Lexmark now says the Print Spooler is a Windows problem and they can no
longer be responsible. Bastards!
P.S. I have also tried reinstalling the printer driver software and
then uninstalling it again to no avail.
There are several suggestions in the Google groups, and I tried the one
where you take out part of the name in the registry, which worked for a
day or two and then the print spooler problem again............Has
anyone run in to this before and found a way out? Thanks. Deango

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View,
Advanced Settings and verify that the box before
"Show hidden files and folders" is checked and
"Hide protected operating system files " is
unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see
the second item. You should also make certain
that the box before "Hide extensions for known
file types" is not checked. Next in Windows
Explorer make sure View, Details is selected
and then select View, Choose Details and check
before Name, Type, Total Size, and Free Space.

How did you try uninstalling the software? Was it
through Add / Remove Programs?

Just removing the files will not solve your
problems you need to remove the entries
( probably in the Registry ) causing these files
to load and there is a right and wrong way to do
this.

Hope this helps.

Gerry.
I uninstalled it using the approved method for WindowsXP-Home.
Start/Printers and Faxes/Highlight and choose Lexmark Z22-32/ Delete.
Open File/Server Properties/Drivers-Highlight and choose Lexmark
Z22-32/Delete.
Open Explorer Drive C:\Folder-LXKZ32-Highlight and Delete. Reboot.
There was no listing in WinXP/Add/Remove. Had that been listed there
and had not uninstalled properly, I have a utility called Add/Remove Pro
http://www.regvac.com/ffreewar.htm which does a fantastic job of
removing left over or unwanted programs.
My system is already set to each of the values you suggested regarding
Folder Options,View, etc. Except in Explorer Details I don't have a
checkbox for Free Space, but had already checked Name,Type and Size.
The one thing that worked for a few days was removing lexbces from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler\Dependency
so that only RPCSS remained. Stop and disable lexbces service and
reboot. Don't know why it came back, fortunately I had backed up the
registry key...............Any advise? Thanks. deango
