Files copied into SanDisk Cruzer Mini 256 MB are missing

Hi all,

I've got a SanDisk Cruzer Mini 256 MB. I've plugged this flash memory
at the PC of my work and I've copied into the device some files I
needed to work at home.

Then I plugged the device at home and there are no files. There is
nothing at all. If I do it in the reverse way (copy files at home and
take it to work), occurs the same with the exception that the files I
copied at work the other day suddenly appear whereas at home there was
nothing. I know that my USB port at home is only USB 1.1. Maybe he USB
a t work is USB 2.0 and is not compatible?

I can't explain it because I did this operation in both two ways some
months ago and worked perfectly. I need the information and therefore
a solution, urgently.

Could be a virus at home?

Thanks in advance.

Without any more information I suggest that the home computer does not
have driver support for the removable drive, you reformatted the drive
(never do this without knowledge the drive needs FAT16), the copied
files are system and/or hidden files and you don't have show
hidden/system files in Folder options. USB 1.1 vs. USB 2 is not an
issue, but if the home computer has a BIOS option for Legacy USB, try
enabling that. If the home computer is XP, in Administrative Tools,
Disk Management, see if the drive is initialized on that computer with a
drive letter assigned.

Looks somewhat like filesystem corruption (FAT copies not matching...)
Try following:
1. Insert the flash and format it.
Stop it thru the taskbar icon and wait until it says "safe to remove".
2. Re-insert it, verify it is empty.
3. Copy your files, stop again as above.

I've tried formatting the Cruzer-Mini but there are no results. I
format it at home and then could see still the files I copied at work.
Incredible! I can start now thinking that the PC in my house is
seriously infected by a lot of viruses.
