Files can't be deleted

I do data backups of client's information onto my own hard drive. What
happens sometimes is that when I attempt to transfer the data back to their
hard drive, it says that a folder is not there or a file is not there and it
errors out. Now I know I can get around this by using xcopy. However, I'd
just like to know if anyone here knows why this happens and what I can do to
fix it? Even when I go in through a cmd prompt to attempt to delete that
folder or see its contents, it cannot be deleted and it does not show
anything inside of it. It is often a .txt file within the temporary
interenet files directory. Thanks in advance.

Why don't you clean out the Temporary Internet Files before doing a backup.
