File transfer wizard

I bot a new Dell desktop and am trying to transfer files from my old Compaq
desktop. Both are running Windows XP Home edition. I began this process
last night and it is still running 12 hours later. Right now it says it is
37.62% complete and has 14 + hours to go. It has had that same % and time to
go for the past 2 hours... does it really take this long?
 
It totally depends on how much of what it has to move... If you have a ton
of data on your old XP system, it could definitely take time, though I think
that is extraordinarily long...
