File Spooled Immediately Deleted!!!

No problems for 5 years with my HP 1200C Printer. The last
thing I thought to happen all of a sudden would be for my
computer to start deleting the files I spool off to the
Deskjet...immediately! My drivers are all up to date, I've
flipped through all available preferences and profiles, and
have even tried various programs to see if the same thing
happens. The spool is even deleted when I try and run a
test page or clean the cartridges. I know I'm nuts, but
this is a little nuttier than anything I've ever seen...

Is there a new virus or something out there that might have
comprimised this part of my system? There's no network
involved here. Oh, I did get the printer to print a default
page, but this is accessed directly from the printer's
button configuration on the machine. So, it still works
fine, in other words.

If anyone has run into a similar problem or if you're just
a genius with this part of the system, any advice would be
much appreciated...thanks!

this sounds like a rights permission problem in the default spool directory.
Default is \windows\system32\spool\printers but this can be changed in
Printers Folder / File / Server Properties / Advanced.

I have seen this suddenly fail when one converts a fat32 drive to NTFS or
ACLS system32 and includes subdirectories

There might be a security event but check permissions on \spool\printers
first.
