File sharing

I have my home computer set up with separate users for
myself (administrator account) and my wife (limited
account).
I want to be able to open files in both users,
specifically Quicken files.
I have the Quicken files in the Shared Files folder, but
the program will not open in my wife's account. I even
tried to install the program again through her user; it
said the program was already on the drive and asked if I
wanted to run it. Still would not start.
Suggestions??

If I understand you correctly, you want to have Quicken open and running
in two separate accounts simultaneously. You can't do this. Only one
instance of Quicken can be running at a time on one computer. I rather
doubt if Quicken comes with a server version (I believe QuickBooks
does). Of course, calling Intuit tech support is always an option.

Even when the program is not open, it will not open when
signed on as another user - only the administrator account
can get Quicken running.

an option.

Ah! That is quite different. Quicken probably doesn't understand a
multi-user operating system and/or permissions and is trying to write
to an area of the system off-limits to a limited user. You could have
her use the RunAs command and have her RunAs you (Administrator).

rick, i think differently from the other guys, you just
want your wife to use Quicken under her logon, on 1
computer, ie when your not using it yourself, right?

you might need to go into your admin account and under
permissions in the admin tools, add her to a group and
grant her access to the programs that you will specify..
there's a lot to explain so u have some homework to do.. :)
you running xp pro? .. anyway go to help and type in "user
permissions" ..

cheers.. rob
