File sharing problems

When the ipconfig numbers are set to start with the numbers 192, the host
will not share it's files it will, though, share the broad band connection.
It is only when I reset the ipconfig numbers to start with the numbers 169
can I get to the hosts files. All the pc's are running xp pro, and the other
pc's in the network are seeing each other/ file sharing ok. Advice please

I am sorry, but you need to be a little clearer in your setup. Are you
referring to using ICS?

As long as all clients (computers) are in the same subnet, you should be
able to see all shares on the network. (The 169.254.x.x address is the APIPA
address.) Make sure that the all the computers that are connecting are in
the same subnet, defined by the subnet mask. (The mask essentially tells you
where the 'break' is in the IP Address. ex: 192.168.1.1 mask 255.255.255.0
means that the first 3 octets - 192.168.1 must all be the same, and the 4th
octet defines the unique computer.)
