file not running...regid.exe

I just got started with this new computer and already want to throw it out
the window.

I am trying to download and set-up the games and sites that I've always liked.

I am getting the message that the regid.exe is not working... bummer !

Is there a way that I can replace the file?

I tried loading in the Vista disc to pick it up there.. but not offered the
option of repair of anything. And I don't want to wipe and start all over
again !

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The file regid.exe is not a part of a normal Vista install. You will have to
reinstall the 3rd party application that placed it on your computer to begin
with.

It's interesting that I found (from Google) this same exact word for word
