When I switch the computer on, a screen with this message appears

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

\windows\system32\config\syste

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original set-up CD-Rom. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

The problem is, I was not provided with the original set-up CD-Rom. I have Windows XP home. Please help!!!

If you do not have access to the repair console that is on the retail XP cd
you may have to reformat and reinstall. The problem that you have is a
corrupted registry and it is not easy to fix anyway. Sorry for the bad news.
