File location of auto-complete settings

We've just installed new Exchange servers here at my office, so we had to go
to each users machine and make a backup.pst of all their Outlook contents.
Once we imported it into the new user profile, everything was there as we
expected but the auto-complete wasn't intact. Can anyone tell me which file I
need to look for in the old profile to copy over for this to work?

When I say auto-complete settings, I mean when a user starts a new message
and types in 'a,' a drop-down box would appear of all the addresses starting
with a that he had sent a message to.

The problem we're having is a lot of the users unfortuntely didn't bother
adding people to their contact list, but rather relied on the auto-complete
for someones email address.

Am I being clear or no?
And help is appreciated.

Seems like you could have deployed the settings then not had to leave your
seat :)

Those autocomplete names are stored in a file called outlook.nk2. The file
lives here where your-profile is unique to your installation: "C:\Documents
and Settings\your-profile\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook" I dont think
you can modify it... but thats where the file is.

But we copied everything over from the old profile..including Application Data.

I'll have a look at that utility, however.

Thanks

What actually exports from the utility? A comma separated file or what? With
the exported information, how can I use that on the new profile..or can I?

Thanks

It doesn't work.

After furious head scratching, Ken Cheney asked:

| you could also try this free utility:

|
| i have never used it so i have no idea if it works or not

Ok, what do I do with the file once I find it? Any idea?

With Outlook closed, modify the name of the NK2 file to match the current
mail profile name. Start Outlook. Autocompletion should use the NK2 file
now.

Yes, one containing only the Internet addresses from the NK2 file which, as
I said, don't do you any good.

Just close outlook and copy your NK2 from the old profile to the new
profile name and your autocomplete will work again.
