file extensions

Why can I only save downloads and other images as .art
or .bmp files? Jpg doesn't even show up on the list! All
the photos I try to save are .jpg.

..art and .bmp files will not open, no matter what.

I have emptied all the temporary files and cookies 2x with
no change.

I didn't use to have this problem. How can I get .jpg back
on the list?

Please all computer geeks DO NOT send me answers that a
normal person couldn't begin to understand like links to
some "root" info. Make it simple and be SPECIFIC.

I have Windows XP.

What prevents you from typing in the .jpg extension? Is
there an "All Files" option?

Won't let me type in the extesion window. Does not offer
me jpg option ONLY art & bmp.
