File creation error - insufficient system resources

We are running Oracle Database on Windows 2000 Advanced
Server SP4. I scheduled an OS job via Schedule Tasks GUI
to backup the database (offline backup) weekly. However,
the task was never completed fully for the last 3 weeks.

To diagnose the problem, I kicked off the job manually.
I sat there and watch the process to xcopy 30 datafiles
each of them is about 2GB in size ).
After completing about 15 datafiles, the following error
occurred:

File creation error - insufficient system resources exist
for the requested serives.

The script was aborted as soon as the error occurred. I
checked the disk spaces, temp folder, and everything. I
could not find anything suspecious.

The server has 8 CPUs and 12 GB memory. I don't understand
why the system resource is an issue.

If you have an answer for me, please send me an email to
the two email addresses below:

I've run into a very similar issue. In this case, copying
a 115GB file from a remote server to a local 7.5TB
filesystem. The copy fails at approximately 86GB with the
error "Insufficient system resources exist to complete
the requested service". 1.6TB is available on the
destination filesytem. Additional system info is
included below.
