I notice that each time I save a music file to my music
folder in my profile an exact duplicate of the file is
also made under documents and settings/my music.

How do you stop this double copy of files?

.

It is an inherent feature of WinXP. There are several
ways to stop this action. One is to keep all your music
files under Document and Settings/My Music and delete a
separate music directory/file. Many third party music
programs also create a separate music library.
The other it to tweak the Registry by not placing music
files in MyMusic directory, but I do not recommend
fooling with the Registry unless you are aware of the
consequences.
