how do I prevent search from showing multiple results for same fil

I did a search for music on my computer and every music file that was located
in "My Documents" was listed THREE TIMES for the VERY SAME FILE. This makes
finding duplicate files extremely difficult. Why does search do this and how
can I fix it?

It does it because:

1) you really have dupes of those files, or
2) you haven't looked at the location of the "dupes" to see why there
are three listings.

Try clearing up 2

The location is the same. Search displays three copies of the SAME FILE IN
THE SAME FOLDER and if I right click and select "open containing folder", the
folder only contains one copy of the file.

To verify, I did the above step of opening the cantaining folder and created
a txt file in that folder and closed it. I then opened the second copy of the
same file in the same way and guess what: it opened the same folder as the
first copy, because there in the resulting window is my txt file. As for the
third copy the rsults are the same.

SO I REPEAT: WHY IS SEARCH SHOWING THREE SPEREATE RESULTS FOR THE SAME FILE?

Also if I delte one file, repaet the search, then the two extra copies that
where listed are no longer listed, therefore there is ONLY ONE FILE being
listed three times!
