duplicate listing of files in search results window

This I find rather peculiar: When searching for files (e.g., *.*), search
results window displays duplicate listing of same file (name, size, all
attributes the same; location exactly the same!)

Each file is apparently the same file (if open both, one opens; if delete
one, both get deleted; if recover from recycle bin, both reappear in search
window) listed twice in search window.

I just noticed this recently, so it may be related to programs I've recently
installed.

What is going on here? Can this be fixed somehow? Anybody ever seen this
before?

Thanks in advance.

Hi jd,

Does this problem occur when searching a *particular* folder?

Hi Ramesh-
Well, typically I access search from the Start button. In this case I
believe I searched for the term "phone" in all local hard drives.

I just tried to recreate this, but only one copy of the previously
duplicated file comes up now.

So, no is the answer to your question (I searched 3 local partitions).

I'll try a few more searches tonight and see what happens.

Hi jd,

Let's know how it works. IIRC, this is a search index issue and excluding
the subject folder and including it back again to the index helps.
