Hi,

I have been using vista for a few months with no real problems. I
recently was editing a php file using dreamweaver and got a 'blue
screen'. I pressed escape and the laptop rebooted. Not really a
problem but the file I was editing is now completely empty. Its shown
in the directory as before and the size is correct i.e 5kb but when I
open it in notepad there is nothing.

I have run chkdsk and it reported that 5 files weren't indexed -
perhaps mine is one of them??. Not sure exactly what this means but
any suggestions on recovering my file would be appreciated.

Thanks
Lee

You may very well be in luck.
Right click on the folder that the file was in and opt for "previous
version"

As long as you have left Vista system restore enabled...you should see the
previous versions of that folder...
so your original data should still be there and restorable.

Post back with results. Because if your data was not there...you'll need to
turn your machine off and use data recovery software
