file basdb.exe - what is it?

Anyone know what this file is or does? It appeared after I installed SP2,
mysteriously, into my C:\WINDOWS\Cursors folder, added a registry key and ran
in the background as a process. Couldn't identify what it was and suspected a
trojan or spyware. Went through h*ll to remove it.

Google comes up with no hints which is very suspicious and suggestive of
malware.
