file and print sharing

I'm trying to set up file and print sharing between 2 win 2000 cmputers.
Does win 2000 require password logon for this? I set up both systems where
logon is not required at boot up. I typed in DNS's such as 192.168.0.2 but
I'm still not suceeding at this... any pointers?
thanks mc

To share files and printers successfully, you need the following:
- The two machines must have IP addresses in the same subnet,
e.g. 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3
- The logon account/password used on one machine must also
exist, in identical form, on the other machine.
- The two maschines should have the same workgroup name.

You write "logon is not required". This is not really relevant - there are
several methods to automate a logon process so that the password is
remembered or entered automatically. What counts is that the passwords are
the same. If unsure then you should undo the automatic logon process, using
the notes you wrote when setting it up, then synchronise the passwords.

I forgot to mention the 3rd computer is xp. I am using 'Administrator' and

Yes, the procedure is the same for WinXP. You could also use the Network
Setup Wizard in the Control Panel.
