File and Folder Task Menu, Not Showing, View Photos As Slide Show

I want to view some photos as a slide show. I've seen this done by others on
XP by putting photos in the My Pictures folder then clicking View as Slide
Show on the File and Folder pane on left. However, I can't get that pane to
show for me. I only get the standard windows explorer view of the folders.
When I click the "x" in the upper right of this folder pane view the left
hand window disappears completely. On other computers with XP I've seen it
toggle from the folders view I have to the menu with the option to view
photos as a slide show. Hopefully this is simple and I'm just not getting it.

On the Explorer Toolbar, make sure the Folders option is unselected (not
depressed). This will chow the Task Pane panel on the let and your options.

You must be in the My Pictures folder.

Thanks very much! I needed to go into control panel and change a
setting...now toggling on the Folders options works!
