Shortcut with BOTH panes AND left pane in Folder View

Hi,
I have a shortcut that opens a folder in 'Explorer' view - no problem.
HOWEVER the left pane (which I believe is called the Explorer bar) is
NOT in 'Folders View' which is what I prefer.
When the folder opens, the left pane displays three boxes, one that
says 'Files Folders and Tasks', one that says 'Other Places' and then
the one that says 'Details'. If I go to the main menu, to View ->
Explorer Bar -> Folders, I can get the view I want. But I want the
shortcut to open the Explorer window up in this view automatically.

It is not the /e or /n switches - I tried these and this doesn't open
the shortcut window with the Explorer pane in 'Folders View'

Thanks!!!

Hi Vmusic,

From within any open folder, go to Tools>Folder Options>File Types tab.
Locate and click on to select "(NONE) Folder", then click on Advanced
button. Ensure that "explore" is selected (highlighted), click on the Set
Default button, click on OK then Close. Close the open folder. Now whenever
you open a folder, the left sidebar should default to the Folder view
instead of the Common Tasks view. Now if you open a folder for which you
want to have the Common Tasks view, either click on the Folders button or go
to View>Explorer Bar>Folders.......as far as I know, you can't set the
default to Common Tasks view for some folders and Folders view for other
folders.

Right click your shortcut and select Properties from the menu.
Click on the Shortcut tab. What's entered in the Target box? If
you want the Explorer bar displayed in the left column, it
should look like this,

%windir%\explorer.exe /e, C:\FOLDERPATH

where FOLDERPATH is the path to the folder you want opened with
the Explorer bar displayed.

Note: After you change the entry in the Target box, the icon
may change. You can change it back to the folder icon by
clicking on the "Change Icon" button on the Shortcut tab.

Good luck
