file access

I am running two nic cards by a crossover cable btw 2 computers. the remote
compter can access the internet, but i cannot access files btw the 2. help!!

This may not help with your situation but is there any particular
reason you have IPv6 installed? If it's not there for a good
reason, then you might want to uninstall it and see if that
helps.

Also, unless you're on a dialup connection, your life would be a
lot simpler if you invested in a router. If you time it right you
may be able to get one from a local outlet such as Best Buy,
Circuit City, CompUSA or Staples for under $20. Internet
connection sharing is one of the hardest networking features to
troubleshoot.

ok, I fixed that problem, but I still have the problem of not being able to
access one computer to the other. I keep gettting a "you might not have
permission to access this network" i got rid of sfs and went to classic, also
did the permissions on both computers. Now when i try to access the other
computer it takes a very long time, then i get the error message. The only
reason i am using the 2 nic's and crossover is i had them in my stockpile of
stuff. any other suggestions?

When you disabled Simple File Sharing, did you create matching
user accounts (same user name and password) on both machines?
