FIFA 07 problem

Whenever i run fifa 07 it gets stuck after every 5 0r 10 seconds and there is some sound inside my cpu..... my configuration passes all the minimum requirements....In fact this game run smoothly a few months ago but this problem cropped up a few months ago...Is this my motherboard failing???? Somebody please help me....

System Specs & Operating System would help us to help you?
Does your PC pass the recommend specs for the game?

I have intel pentium 4.... 256 MB ram....2.67GHz processor....Windows XP SP2...128 MB graphics adapter....It does not pass the recommended test but previously it used to run fine...
